The Cooperative Approach
A cooperative nursery school is a three-way partnership between a professional teacher, parents, and children. All aspects of the school, including curriculum, field trips, activities, maintenance and parent activites are organized by a volunteer parent board. Our themes, activites and lessons are planned by our teacher and a parent-driven curriculum committee. Each day we have three assist parents participating in the classrooms along with the teacher.
Family Involvement
Each FUMCN family is expected to:
- Assist in the Classroom 6-7 times a semester
- Be an emergency (or 'on call') assist parent 2-3 times a semester
(see Daily Schedule for assist times)
- Participate in two school maintenance work sessions/year
- Donate a craft or service to the annual auction
- Fulfill assigned committee responsibilities
- Pay tuition and fees
